For seat allotment of JEE Main, there is a separate authority- Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). The authority conducts the counseling for seat allotment in various participating colleges of JEE Main. You need to register yourself for counseling process to get JoSAA 2020 notifications. Admission procedure by JoSAA begins after the declaration of JEE Main Result.
To register yourself, you need to visit the official site. You must also understand what is JoSAA and how does it work. Once you are registered, you will receive JoSAA 2020 notifications on a regular basis. JoSAA 2020 Registration and Counseling Process
To register for counseling process, candidates need to visit josaa.nic.in. During the JoSAA 2020 registration, you need to specify and lock your choices for the preferred colleges and courses. This list will be considered as per All India Rank (AIR) of candidates and available seat as per the precedence of their rank.

The seat allocation for all the institutions will be carried out through seven different rounds. Post every round, candidates may accept the seat allocated to them, if any. Note that post accepting a seat, the candidate will not be able to attend the next round of the counselling.
After the seats are allotted, candidates will be required to visit their nearby JoSAA reporting centre for the verification of their documents. To confirm the acceptance of their allotted seats, candidates have to complete the payment of their seat acceptance fee, post which they may visit their allotted institute for confirming their admission.
Documents Required at JoSAA Reporting Centres
Candidates need to show the following documents for verification at the at JoSAA reporting centres:
- Three passport size photos (same as that uploaded during registration)
- Provisional seat allotment letter
- Proof of seat acceptance and fee payment
- Photo identity proof
- JEE Main 2020 score card
- JEE Main 2020 admit card
- Marksheet of class 12th
- Undertaking by the candidate
- Proof of date of birth (mark sheet of 10th class or birth certificate)
- Medical certificate
- Category certificate (if applicable)
- OCI certificate of PIO card (if applicable)
- PwD certificate (if applicable)
- Registration-cum-locked choices for seat allotment
