With NTA now at the helm of JEE Main and other national level examinations, several changes including mode of examination and periodicity have been introduced for JEE Main 2019. Of the two papers in JEE Main, JEE Main Paper 2 eligibility criteria has also been revised. JEE Main paper 2 is for admission into 5 year course in architecture. Clearing the entrance is a gateway to admission in NITs and GFTIs.

You must remember that NTA is only responsible for conducting the exam. All changes regarding JEE Main Paper 2 eligibility criteria are decided by The Council of Architecture (COA), NTA just informs the public about the changes. According to the revised criteria, a minimum 50% aggregate in 10+2 is mandatory to pursue B.Arch courses. No diploma students will be allowed into the course.

Highlights of JEE Main Paper 2 Eligibility Criteria
The Council of Architecture (COA) has amended its Council of Architecture (Minimum Standards of Architectural Education) Regulations, 1983. Let us discuss in detail the JEE Main Paper 2 eligibility criteria:
- Candidate must have Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects in 10+2 grade
- You must score minimum 50% or above marks in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry at 10+2 level
- An aggregate of 50% or above in all subjects at 10+2 makes you eligible
The same had been published in the Official Gazette on June 06, 2017 and will come into force from the academic session 2019-2024. This addendum change and amendment change has been bought on for the JEE Main paper 2 eligibility criteria by the Central Government.
“In view of the modifications in the qualifications prescribed by the Council of Architecture as mentioned above, the eligibility conditions prescribed for admission to B.Arch/B. Planning hereby stands modified,” based on a press release from the National Testing Agency (NTA).

JEE Main Paper 2 Age eligibility
Eligibility is not only restricted to qualification background. Your age is also to be considered before you apply for JEE Main 2019. You must be born on or after October 1, 1994 in order to apply. For applicants from Reserved categories, there is a relaxation. Those born on or after October 1, 1989 can apply for JEE Main 2019. You can appear for maximum 3 times in JEE Main to clear the entrance.
JEE Main Paper 2 Exam Dates
JEE Main will be conducted twice a year from 2019. The first session will be held between January 6 and 20, and second session between April 6 and 20, 2019. Paper 1 will be conducted in 2 slots on multiple dates. JEE Main paper 2 will be conducted on only one day, i.e., January 8, 2019 and April 8, 2019 in 2 slots. You must follow the JEE Main exam schedule strictly in order to avoid any confusion.
JEE Main Paper 2 Exam Pattern
JEE Main Paper 2 will be a combination of Computer Based Test and pen and paper test. In CBT, you will get all questions in MCQ form and in the pen paper test, you will have a subjective questions.
