With NTA now at the helm of JEE Main and other national level examinations, eligibility criteria for JEE Main paper 2 has also been revised. JEE Main comprises two papers namely JEE Main paper 1 and JEE Main paper 2. Paper 1 is meant for B.Tech/B.E. aspirants while Paper 2 is meant for B.Arch/B.Planning aspirants. The first phase of JEE Main scheduled from January 6, 2019 till January 20, 2019 while the second phase is scheduled from April 06, 2019 to April 20, 2019
NTA has released an official notification stating the revised criteria for JEE Main Paper 2 aspirants. The Council of Architecture (COA) has amended its Council of Architecture (Minimum Standards of Architectural Education) Regulations, 1983. Let us discuss in detail the JEE Main paper 2 eligibility criteria:
- Candidate must have Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as mandatory subjects in 10th and 12th grade in order to gain admission to the 5 years B.Arch course.
- Candidate has to score 50% or above marks in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry in 10th and 12th grade.
- Also, aspirants needs to score an aggregate of 50% or above in all of the subjects in 10th and 12th grade.
The same had been published in the Official Gazette on June 06, 2017 and comes into force from the academic session 2019-2020. Hence, enforcing the JEE Main paper 2 eligibility criteria.
This addendum change and amendment change has been bought on for the JEE Main paper 2 eligibility criteria by the Central Government. The council informed the National Testing Agency and they are the institution which will conduct the JEE exams from the next academic session of 2019-2020. Also, the reason why the JEE Main paper 2 eligibility criteria are official.
“In view of the modifications in the qualifications prescribed by the Council of Architecture as mentioned above, the eligibility conditions prescribed for admission to B.Arch/B. Planning hereby stands modified,” based on a press release from the National Testing Agency (NTA).
The National Testing Agency has explicitly asked the candidates to ascertain their revised policies prescribed by the Council of Architecture so that the aspiring students for the year of 2019-2020 do not remain blindsided and do not cause any inconvenience at a later stage whilst taking admissions into the 1st year of the 5 year B.Arch course.
The last date for submitting online applications for JEE Main 2019 is 30th September 2018. All the JEE aspirants can apply on the website nta.ac.in.
Note: Online payment can be done till 1st October 2018. NTA will allow JEE aspirants to edit the application forms from 8th October till 14th October 2018. JEE Main paper 1’s admit card will be released in December and the first bout of the exam is slated to be held in January 2019.
To prepare better for the JEE Main and other exams, the NTA has released a set of online mock tests for Maths and Aptitude. Though there is no mock test available for the drawing section. The aspiring candidates can either download the online mock test or register at the practice centers established by NTA. It has set up about 3084 Test Practice centers (TPCs) across the country for the aspiring candidates to get a hang of the JEE Mains mock test papers.
