The JEE Main 2018 was held on 02 April 2018. This was a pen and paper based exam, conducted for students who had opted to give this exam by offline mode. In the year 2013 CBSE and Ministry of HRD brought major changes in the JEE Main exams. This was the 5th edition of JEE Mains after those changes came into picture. The exam was divided into two parts i.e. Paper I and Paper II, both the papers had different timings. Paper I took place between 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and Paper II took place between 2 pm to 5 pm. Students who had applied for engineering course had appeared for Paper I and those who had applied for B.Arch appeared for Paper II.

Overall Marks Distribution

The pattern of paper of JEE Main Paper I was just like that of last year. In total the paper had 90 questions, carrying 4 marks each. All the questions were objective in nature with only one correct answer. Coming to subject wise break up, there were 30 questions in each subject of 120 marks in total.

Although all subjects had more or less same difficulty level but mathematics was tougher if compared to Physics & Chemistry. On the whole the paper was moderate and many chances of the cut-off decreasing this year.

This is not official data but based on previous data and paper analysis of this year. JEE Main is the national level entrance exam conducted by the CBSE for various courses from top institutes like IIITs(Indian Institute of Information Technology), IITs(Indian Institute of technology), NITs(National Institute of Technology), and CFTs (Centrally Funded Technical Institution).
