While the 2017 JEE Main paper was not tough, it was practically easy but really lengthy. 2016 came across as a shock as the paper was both difficult and long with the Physics section taking a toll on the students’ mind. 2015 deemed the paper as a breeze in reference to the other years. The question paper was filled with easy and moderate questions with a few questions which knocked the exam off the park. Hence this may be one of the reasons for such a steep decline in the JEE Main cut offs since 2015.

What will JEE Main 2018 bring?

With reference to the new changes in 2018’s JEE examinations such as:

  1. There will be no weightage for the 12th-grade marks in calculating the rank for the JEE Main examination.
  2. For the candidates to qualify the admission process of the top tier colleges, that is based on the JEE Main and JEE Advanced ranks, they have to secure at least 75 percent in their final 12th class examinations or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th-grade examinations conducted by their respective state boards. For the underprivileged SC/ST students, the qualifying percentage is 65.

It is safe to say that a lot of hard work, perseverance as well as determination will help the hopeful and beaming JEE aspirants gain admissions into IIT Kanpur.

With a total of 645 seats in IIT Kanpur across the eight branches of engineering, no focus on 12th examination results and a relatively easier 2017 JEE main paper. It is quite assumable that 2018 JEE Main will be a game changer. So it is time to buck up and perform.
