JOSAA 2018 Notification is out and the counselling is slated to start from June 15. Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is the authority responsible for conducting the counselling procedure to allot seats in the participating colleges through the JEE Main and JEE Advanced exams. JEE Main 2018 was conducted successfully on April 08, 2018 in paper-based mode and on April 15 and 16, 2018 in online mode.
The second tier of Joint Entrance Examinations, JEE Advanced 2018 was conducted on May 20, 2018 in the online mode only. The result for JEE Advanced is scheduled on June 10. JEE Main Result for Paper I was earlier declared on April 30 and May 31 for Paper II.
The official JoSAA 2018 Notification and seat matrix is yet to be released. However, the entire schedule and list of participating institutes is already published. This year 100 institutes are participating in JoSAA Counselling for more than 34,000 seats in the undergraduate degree courses include Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institute of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and Government Funded Technical Institutes (GFTIs).

JoSAA 2018 Registration and Counselling Process
To register for the counselling process, candidates need to visit josaa.nic.in. During the JoSAA 2018 registration, candidates need to specify and lock their choices for the preferred colleges and courses. This list will be considered as per the All India Rank (AIR) of the candidates and the available seat as per the precedence of their rank would be allocated to them.

The seat allocation for all the institutions will be carried out through seven different rounds. Post every round, candidates may accept the seat allocated to them, if any. Note that post accepting a seat, the candidate will not be able to attend the next round of the counselling.
After the seats are allotted, candidates will be required to visit their nearby JoSAA reporting centre for the verification of their documents. To confirm the acceptance of their allotted seats, candidates have to complete the payment of their seat acceptance fee, post which they may visit their allotted institute for confirming their admission.
Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) is responsible for allocating seats to students for admission to participating institutes, based on their JEE Main and JEE Advanced scores. JoSAA Counselling Procedure will be conducted in online mode based on candidates’ preferences during choice filling/locking and seat availability. However, to complete document verification process and accept an allotted seat, students will have to report at their JoSAA Reporting Centres.
